That's according to Dr. Sri Redla, FCIR, FBIR, a consultant radiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital National Health Service (NHS) Trust in Harlow, U.K., and Dr. Anjum Ahmed, chief medical officer at Agfa HealthCare, in this video from RSNA 2019.
Augmented intelligence represents the convergence of clinical data with medical knowledge, according to Ahmed. It works with human intelligence and amplifies the skills of radiologists, he believes.
Ultimately, the goal is precision diagnostics, bringing "pixel" intelligence with meaningful clinical data to empower radiologists -- making them consulting "powerhouses" within the healthcare organization.
