October 19, 2023 -- The European Society of Radiology (ESR) said it has received 7,600 abstracts originating from 101 countries for ECR 2024, representing a 14% increase compared with ECR 2023.

European countries with the highest number of abstracts submitted so far are Italy, Spain, Germany, Romania, and Portugal. Authors from China, India, Morocco, South Korea, and the U.S. head the list of international abstracts.

Submissions extended beyond radiology, encompassing contributions from radiographers, medical physicists, and experts hailing from various other medical disciplines, the ESR said.

"An impressive influx of abstracts is instrumental in shaping a congress that is not only academically enriching but also culturally diverse, and the submissions we have received so far in recent months undoubtedly guarantee this for ECR 2024," said ESR President Prof. Carlo Catalano. "With a second submission phase still ahead of us we might be moving towards an all-time high in submitted abstracts."

Under the heading of "Next Generation Radiology," ECR 2024 is set to venture into new horizons and will usher in the future of radiology, fostering collaboration and exchanging groundbreaking scientific advancements among clinicians, patients, global healthcare stakeholders, and industry leaders, he added.

For those who did not submit an abstract but would still like to, a second late-breaking abstract submission period will open from 20 December 2023 to 15 January 2024, the ESR said.

Registration for ECR 2024 is open, and attendees can take advantage of the reduced opening fee until 8 November. To register for the congress, click here.
