September 18, 2023 -- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR) have extended a collaboration agreement until 2026.

The organizations first signed an agreement in 2017, with the collaboration becoming the first of its kind between the IAEA and an international medical imaging society, IAEA said. As a result, the IAEA and the ESR have cooperated successfully during the past six years on capacity building in low- and middle-income countries, educational activities, and measures to improve quality and safety in medical imaging.

The extension provides a solid foundation for further collaborations, IAEA said.
