The facility will also be home to the company's Canon Medical Academy Europe which it says will "play a role in nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and advancing medical knowledge for the betterment of society." The academy includes 17 training rooms that have CT, MRI, ultrasound, and diagnostic and interventional x-ray systems and houses Canon's refurbishment and mobile imaging solutions centers.
The company also highlighted the new facility's "green" features, including reusing the water to cool down MR magnets in the building's heating system, implementing an LED lighting platform and an electrical uninterruptible power supply system, an automated "switch off" protocol for screens after staff have departed for the day, and integration of CO2 sensors to reduce unnecessary power consumption by controlling ventilation.
