Canon deploys CT scanners in Northern Ireland

January 13, 2023 -- Canon Medical Systems will install two CT scanners at Craigavon Area Hospital in Northern Ireland.

The top-of-the-range artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted, spectral, wide-detector CT scanners were selected for a 6.8-million-pound twin CT suite development, according to the vendor. The hospital is part of Southern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland.

The Aquilion One/Prism Edition CT scanners are expected to improve stroke, cancer, and cardiac imaging services for patients in the hospital's service area. Presently, due to limited scanning capabilities, advanced scans like cardiac CT are outsourced and patients have to travel longer distances to obtain the scan, Canon said.
