December 9, 2022 -- The Spanish Ministry of Health has signed a contract with Ion Beam Applications (IBA) to install ten proton therapy systems across the country as part of a public tender.

The contract's total value, excluding taxes, is 217 million euros. The proton therapy systems will be installed in nine different Spanish sites. IBA said the multiyear maintenance component of the contract will be negotiated later and that revenue recognition will begin soon.

The project is being funded by the Amancio Ortega Foundation, which signed an agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Health in 2021.
