In a tribute posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), the ESR wrote that Totev was a "founding father" of the Bulgarian Radiology Association. His dedication to advancing interventional radiology, his support of the ESR and its goals, and his "unwavering commitment to the professional community have left an indelible mark."

"He will not only be remembered as a brilliant colleague but also a beloved friend, teacher, and leader," the society said.

The ESR noted Totev's sense of humor, his cultural depth, and his integrity. It also said his influence extended to the lives of colleagues around the world, calling him an inspiration to many.
